Edward just appears, leaning on the stage back leisurely. "Carlisle was amused by this."
There's a minute pause, with the flicker of a smirk. "I won't promise not to lie."

Edward considered this for a long second. "Compassionate."

The glance off with a smile might have meant there was more to the thought.

"Of course."

Edward considered this a long moment.

"Not caring enough that I can't remember the way my mother smelled, or the feel of her hand, or how it made me feel when she would run her hand over my hair when I was playing was playing a new piece of music."

"Or much at all about the person I used to be, except for being told that it should be remembered, should be held on to."

He leaned his head back against the stage back.







"That I cost Carlisle his happiness in Vermont."

Carlisle sits outwardly silent backstage.

As would the narration, but Edward is quite stubbornly unwavering on his opinion and on his not elucidating it any further.

Edward thinned his lips, thinking about things.

"There has be a combination of both. Character can not be wholly formed by new education, when our values, reactions and goals are nuanced to a wholly different referential. Reactions, actions, emotional reflections are all individual specific."

"I think that both this and your prior question, which was more specific but narratively aimed, mix between this place and time and the one in nearly ninety years, which is out of place by comparison and altered events."



And narration adds that as for the first question, in the canon, yes, because of events in the canon, the length of time itself, as well as canon created by Steph & I -- but in Lifetime's Prelude not so much.


We should totally have an ask the author set of these things, too.
